Yarnie Pals Are Done!

And Along Came . . .

A monster? !  Hmm, not quite.  He started off quite small (See below. Markers show where the increases ended).

Looks more like a beanie, huh?  And it was challenging to keep all those stitches on dpn's.  I lost a few!  Not too happy about that.  So eventually I had to switch to

Introducing a New Friend

Without further ado, meet my new friend:

Isn't he cute?!  I just love his happy face.  My son loves him too and calls him "Eggy".  Unfortunately, my octopus is without appendages and may remain so for a while.  I'd like to start the monster body first before working on any

A Star is BORN!

Yes, believe it or not.....I have actually FINISHED my Bernat Star Afghan!

YIPPEE!!!!!   :)

This is the largest project I've ever knit by myself, so I am very proud.

It sure did take a lot of persistence and patience, but it DID come to a beautiful end.  I

Loving the Stripes

Some random thoughts crossed my mind as I started to work on the octopus.  First, Super Value is really soft.  Even my youngest noticed the softness (Should I be concerned that he wants to squeeze my yarn?  And he's already claimed any leftovers for his own project . . . did I mention that I taught my boys to knit this fall?).

My Star is Starting to SHINE!

I am beginning to see the end of this glorious project - such a beautiful star afghan!  It will be difficult sending it off with my step-son, but I know he will appreciate it.  He'll probably use it on his lap when he's playing computer games, or snuggle under it when watching television.  I'm so glad I'm using long-wearing

Decisions, Decisions (Or the Search for a New Project)

Choosing a new project has been rather vexing.  Initially I wanted to make something for my boys.  Since I was in the midst of Christmas knitting, I thought a small project would be a good choice.  Then the battle began: hats?  mittens?  sweaters?  Then I found something in stripes that didn't go over too well with my eldest.  He absolutely forbade the use of any

A Star is Taking Over My Craft Room!

Can you see me?  Or have I been sucked into the gravitational pull of my Bernat Star?  It really is big....VERY big.

To show you the current size of the afghan, I have placed all the stitches on four circular needles.  Take a look....it's about the size of a baby afghan now:

A Star Needs LOTS of Stitches!

I know one thing....my stepson had better LOVE this afghan!  I am working my little hands to the bone to knit this huge star blanket for him.  If he doesn't like it, he'd better PRETEND to like it.

So far, I'm about a third of the way through the pattern, and I already have over 400 stitches on the needles.

Getting Started with the Bernat Star Afghan

Would you like to swing on a star?
Carry moonbeams home in a jar?
And be better off than you are?
....You could be swingin' on a star!  :)

I'm singin' and swingin' on a star right now....the Bernat Star Afghan!  I'm SO excited about making this gorgeous afghan.

I'm knitting the afghan with black,
