Seriously cool yarn

I have got to get more of this yarn. It’s a nice reasonable bulky weight, it’s not super tightly twisted and it has good stitch definition. I see why the clever people of Patons designed a book of sweaters, hats and scarves using this wool. I have never needle felted anything but would give it a whirl with Roving. I’ve got some ideas brewing…

I mentioned in my previous post that instead of knitting the Felted Cable bag in two pieces I am knitting it in the round. I hope to not regret this decision as some have mentioned that the seams may have increased the stability of the bag post felting. Time will tell but I have a sneaking suspicion that Roving will felt up as nicely as Classic Wool does and I’ll have nothing to worry about. In the meantime I’m concentrating on that I won’t have three seams to sew. If you have never worked cables before this would make an awesome first try! The cables are so simple and because the wool “sticks” together you can even cable without a cable needle.

By the way this pattern suggests using Patons SWS and Roving is slightly larger. Probably I will end up with a larger bag but all the better to carry things in. Besides if it ends up big enough to carry the kitchen sink I’ll just felt it down smaller.

Love that color!

I can't wait to see the finished project since I downloaded that same pattern. I haven't decided what to use for yarn and this is giving me more ideas. I love the SWS and have made fleted bowls with it and it turns out beautiful.
