I'm Movin' In! (Vickie Howell Joins Bernat)

Hey there! I’m Vickie Howell: mother, designer, author, on-air personality, and now, spokesperson for Bernat Yarns. I’m thrilled be here!

Some of you may know me as the host of TV’s Knitty Gritty, which aired in the U.S., Australia, and Finland. Others may be familiar with my columns in Interweave Crochet and Knit Simple, or might’ve checked out one of my books or internationally featured designs. If you’re a girl or guy after my own heart, you might’ve joined me on the web for all kinds of crafty, social networking goodness—and maybe some of you have followed me here from my former home at Caron. Regardless how how we know each other, I’m excited to bring you my line of yarn, Vickie Howell Sheep(ish),  as well as to work on projects with all of the other great Bernat yarns. I’ve been stitching since I was a kid, so knitting and crochet are truly my passions—ones that I look forward to sharing with the Bernat community!

Speaking of community, first up on the events roster is: the next Stitch.Rock.Knit-along event in partnership with Knit Simple Magazine! In every issue of the mag I have a column which includes a quick(ish) project to make which also employs at least one handy knitting skill. Last issue, we all made a triangle shawl using the top-center-out method. Check out some of people's finished shawls on Pinterest -- I love seeing different knitters' interpretation of the same project!

The latest issue hits stands next week, so it's time to get prepped and ready to (virtually)

Bean(ie) Town (Psst...that's my eldest son, Tanner, modeling with me.)

hang out and knit the featured project together! This go-'round is Bean(ie) Town, a cabled hat with both fitted and slouchy versions. This is a great go-to project for back to school and holiday gifts! Here's the scoop: click on over to the Stitch.Rock.Knit-along Facebook page AND/OR the thread on Ravelry (whichever one works best for you.) "Like" the page and leave a post that "you're in". Gather supplies and meet me back there from July 31st-August 6th to make beanies together. There'll be how-to help, progress photos, a cable video, and more. Hope to see you there!

In the meantime, I hope you'll check out just some of the great free projects I have to offer on my Bernat page (more coming throughout the summer!), and take advantage of the 25% off Sheep(ish) online special—use the code: GIFT4YOU at checkout! Oh, and don't forget to follow me at the social networking venue(s) of your choice: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, Ravelry & YouTube.

More soon!

Stitch.Rock.Love,
Vickie
