I just finished crocheting the Bernat Softee Chunky Neckwarmer in Roving (Lichen) and I am loving it! Here is what it looked like right after I finished crocheting it. I laid it next to the swatch so that you can get a general idea of size. The swatch is 4" square.
I really loved working with Bernat Roving. It is so soft and really has a nice loft to it. It is one of those yarns that is just enjoyable to work with. It slides really well over the crochet hook and provides a really nice texture in the finished product. It is definitely a yarn I love having right up next to my skin. It is perfect for something like this neckwarmer!
The Bernat Softee Chunky Neckwarmer pattern is a really fun pattern that is surprisingly easy to learn. If you want something that looks complicated but is actually easy enough to do while chatting with friends, this is it. I had a lot of fun while crocheting this project, and I love how fast it worked up! This is perfect for birthday or holiday gifts because it is so quick to work up and looks so classy. The stitch pattern also gives a nice textured fabric in the end product!
I noticed that the neckwarmer was bunched in a few places where I had adjusted my gauge with my tension. The best way to fix this is to block it. Because I didn't want to stretch it out at all, and just really wanted to flatten the fabric, I decided to do a soft block. I wet the neckwarmer by gently pressing it into a bowl of cold water. I gently squeezed out the excess water, and then laid it flat on the carpet to dry, pulling it out along the floor as much as possible without stretching it too much.
This will take about 2 days to dry. Once it's fully dry I am going to sew on the buttons to finish it off! I can't wait to show you how it looks in action!
