Our new website is an exciting place, and some of us are still learning how to use it. This week, I've decided to give you a little walk-thru, to help you navigate the site more easily.
I'm sure you've already seen the main page for the Yarnspirations site, with the Inspiration Machine front and center:
Have you tried it out yet? I've had fun playing with it, and seeing all the results that come up with different settings. It's a great gadget when you are undecided about what you want to make next.
But sometimes, you already know exactly what you want to make, and that's where the main Patterns page will come in handy. You can quickly access that page by clicking the big "Patterns" button at the top of any Yarnspirations page. On that page, you can type in the name of a pattern you want, or look up patterns by brand, yarn name, skill level, fiber, yarn weight, etc. I like using that page for looking up baby hats or kitchen decor patterns, and other stuff like that. (If you only want to look at Free Patterns, be sure to choose "Free" before clicking the "Search" button.)
Now let's take a look at all the yarn brands on the Yarnspirations site. Are you a big fan of Patons yarns? Check out the Patons page, where you can see just the yarns and patterns by Patons. You can see more Patons yarns and patterns by clicking the little grey arrows on the right side of the page. It works the same for Bernat, Caron, or Lily Sugar 'n Cream. You can access those Brand Name pages very easily by clicking the big buttons at the top left of any Yarnspirations page.
Need to find a specific kind of yarn? Look on the Yarns page, where you can find yarns by brand, fiber, price, name, weight, type, or hook/needle size. I love this feature when I'm wanting to find just the right Super Bulky yarn, or if I want to find a yarn that will work well with my size "D" crochet hook. Just click the big "Yarn" button at the top of any page.
This page will steer you toward all the places where you can share your experiences, and read about others who use Yarnspirations yarns and patterns. You'll find a link to Vickie Howell's page, a link to our Blog (you're reading it now), our Discussion Forums, and BernatCares - our charity knit/crochet page. You can quickly reach our Community page by clicking the little button WAY UP at the top of the Yarnspirations webpage.
There are a lot of other things to discover on the Yarnspirations website as well, so be sure to look around and see what you find. There's a Video Library, an Abbreviations page (English, French, and Spanish), a Stitch Gallery, and an Advanced Search page - for finding yarns, patterns, pattern books, and accessories. So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, settle down at the Yarnspirations page, and get to know us better. :)
